Where & what is this Wild Pepper Isle?
Wild Pepper Isle are in the beautiful state of Tasmania, in southern Australia! One of the most pristine, unspoilt and natural places in the world. Famous for its vast rugged wilderness and its high quality food produce.

With a population of only 520,000 and around half of its land protected national parks and reserves, it is a perfect place to explore native bushfoods.

Tasmania was once known as The Apple Isle, so named as it was once one of the worlds major apple producers. However, since Tasmania is home of the native Tasmania Pepperberry Tasmannia Lanceolata, or mountain pepper,  Wild Pepper Isle was a more appropriate name.

 

Wild Pepper Isle love native foods & we love the Tasmanian wilderness
From the remote forests of Tasmania, ‘new’ native foods are emerging and causing a stir in the culinary world. Spices such as Tasmanian Mountain Pepper and Kunzea Ambigua, long known to indigenous Tasmanians, are beginning to appear in leading restaurants all around the world.

Native foods are valued by chefs for their unique flavours and aromas. But they are also increasingly recognised for their superior nutritional qualities and versatility of use. It is surprising that they are not a staple in every Australian kitchen!

Wild Pepper Isle want to raise awareness of these fantastic “new” flavours and bring a little piece of the Tasmanian wilderness into kitchens throughout Australia.

 

Variety is the spice of life
Wild Pepper Isle are involved in every step of the process; from harvest of the raw materials through to delivery of their award-winning products to market. This way they can ensure that their products are of the highest calibre whilst achieving a variable & stimulating work life.

Our year is centred around the Mountain pepperberry harvest in autumn. Wild Pepper Isle are now one of the largest Mountain Pepper harvesters in Tasmania and therefore the world!

Wild Pepper Isle wild harvest their Tasmanian pepper from private land free from chemical spray or artificial fertilisers to ensure the pepper they pick is organic and clean.

For much of the remainder of the year you can find Wild Pepper Isle in the kitchen. Check out their award winning product range.

As if that wasn’t enough work Wild Pepper Isle are also in the business of establishing their own Pepperberry orchard using carefully selected varieties of Tasmanian Pepper chosen for their superior quality, fruity flavour & fragrance and spicy heat, to ensure we provide a consistent supply of top quality product.
